Do I need to do anything as I approach retirement?

Normal Retirement Age Quotations

The Lafarge Pensions Team will endeavour to write to you between four and six months in advance of your normal retirement age (usually 65).

The Team will send you a full retirement quotation pack which may, if this option is available in your particular circumstances, include the option of exchanging part of your pension for a tax free cash sum and a lesser annual pension. In most cases a transfer value quotation will also be included. This is the capital value for transferring your Lafarge pension in its entirety to another type of pension arrangement.

We would suggest that you take the information provided to an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) to review your options.

You will be required to complete an Option Form and a Retirement Declaration Form and our Team are on hand to guide you through completing this documentation between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

In our documentation we will ask you to provide some proofs of identity before we are able to pay out any benefits. It will be necessary for you to send us the following certificates:

Birth Certificate (and Marriage if requested)

We will also require one of the following documents which must show your full name and current address:

A recent Utility Bill (e.g, Gas, Electricity, Water etc, which must be less than 12 months old)
Your Council Tax Bill (must be less than 12 months old)
Your Driving Licence

You can send us photocopies of the documents that have been certified by an unrelated third party, (e.g. a friend or a neighbour) to be a ‘Certified True Copy of the original that has been seen by me.’ Please ensure that the certifier confirms on each document their full name, address, and a contact telephone number or email address. As an alternative you can send us originals that we will endeavour to return as soon as possible by recorded delivery.

Should you decide to take your retirement benefits any cash sum that may be payable would be paid direct into your nominated account on or just after your retirement date. It is not possible for us to pay any cash sum prior to the actual date of retirement. We will write to you to confirm payment of all of your benefits.

If you have moved address recently and been unable to keep us updated of this change, then you should advise us of your current address in writing. Please note that we are unable to accept changes of address over the telephone.

You should write to:
