Change of Trustee Chairman

After 14 years as Chairman of the Lafarge UK Pension Plan, Norman Braithwaite retired at the end of June 2017.  Norman led the Trustees through a period of considerable change, initially bringing together the two schemes of Lafarge Redland and Blue Circle, and later the closure of the Final Pay Pension arrangements.  There were several valuation cycles, and the merger with Holcim saw the sale of the last of the UK operating businesses associated with the Plan.  The Investments of the Plan, the Governance structures and risk management were transformed under Norman’s guidance.

Norman left the Plan in good shape, with a strong investment strategy and a strong Trustee Board with good support from LafargeHolcim.

As we wish Norman well for the future, we also welcome Roger Mountford as the new Trustee Chairman.  Roger comes with a wealth of experience, following a career as a merchant banker in the City and in more recent years as Trustee and Chairman of a number of large Pension Schemes, including The Church of England Pensions Committee, NATS (National Air Traffic Control Service), CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and Allied Domecq.  Roger’s other interests include being a Board member of the High Speed Two (HS2) Limited, a Governor and member of the Council of the London School of Economics. And he is Chairman of Hg Capital Trust Plc, a listed investor in private equity.

We welcome Roger and wish him every success in his new role.
